CRITICAL THINKING ENTRY 3:

Identifying bias

ITEM 1:

-          - Prejudice

-        -   There are two people in the picture, they are in a car. The old man is driving. Besides him, his wife is protect with two seat-belt. One of two seat-belt gags her mouth. On the top of the picture, there are a phrase:” new seat-belt design: 45% less accidents!!”. It means the picture implies the woman are too talkative which is the reason why 45% car accidents happens. It is not fair with woman.

  ITEM 2:                                    Bạo lực gia đình

         Trong các trường hợp nghiêm trọng về bạo lực gia đình, đàn ông thường chiếm số đông. Phụ nữ thường có xu hướng bị sát hại bởi người tình hơn là trường hợp ngược lại, bất kể ai là người kích động bạo lực. Trong số người bị sát hại bởi người tình, thì có 3/4 là phụ nữ và 1/4 là nam giới: năm 1999 ở Mỹ có 1,218 nữ và 424 nam bị giết bởi người tình, bất kể ai là người khởi nguồn hành vi bao lực hay giới tính của đối tác. Con số này ở Mỹ năm 2005 là 1181 nữ và 329 nam. Trong một cuộc điều tra của UNICEF, phần trăm số phụ nữ tuổi từ 15-49 có suy nghĩ người chồng có quyền đánh vợ trong một vài hoàn cảnh nhất định là: 90% ở Jordan, 85.6% ở Guinea, 85.4% ở Zambia, 85% ở Sierra Leone, 81.2% ở Lào, và 81% ở Ethiopia. Trong một cuộc điều tra với sự tham gia của 5.238 người trưởng thành ở Mỹ liên quan đến việc chấp nhận thái độ về bạo lực của người tình, những người được hỏi có xu hướng chấp nhận việc phụ nữ đánh nam giới hơn là nam giới đánh phụ nữ.

-         -            Discrimination 

-          -     This is truly gender bias-sexism. In our life, domestic violence is very serious. It affects to the our happiness, makes families breakdown. The main reason is the sexism.the man have all power in the hands, and the woman who have to do follow their husbands or their lovers have nothing. If the woman don’t  do the man’s requirements, they will be beaten and hurted  their dignity.

-          Scapegoating

-          On a bus, there are many guys are standing behind the girl. Because she is so attractive, beautiful therefore all of the guys stare at her. Suddenly,a young men teasers the girl. She is so angry and she turns to look at all the guys to find out who teaser her. She looks at one by one and stops at a crimson men, she thinks this men teasers her so she slaps him. The fact that he is not the person who she looks for. Because she concepts that who do a wrong thing often flushed.
